Mumford and Sons; Album cover research
I really like this Mumford & Sons album cover. I think it is really important that the cover matches the same feel and mood of the music of the band and links in with their style and music videos. Having a clear title is also important so people instantly know who the artist of the CD is. Keeping the front cover minimal is often a good approach to making the front cover look appealing.
The back cover on this one links in directly with the front. It's important to keep the continuity on both sides of the cover. Also the track listings should be clear and are often aligned veritcally, rather than in the way shown in the example above. Most CD covers also have a small about of copyright information from the record companty. Also, all covers have a barcode. These are all common conventions used on album covers.
